Tufigno:
Quality is Paramount
Tufigno
Photo and Video Services was established in 1947 as
Tufigno Photo Service. It has since developed into one
of the leading firms in its field today, thanks to the
firm's constant commitment to deliver a quality service
above all else.
Benito
Tufigno, the firm's founder 55 years ago, originally
started taking photos with a Kodak Brownie box camera
bought in 1935 for 5 shillings (today's 25c). His work
quickly gained recognition. In particular, he was appointed
official photographer for the University of Malta graduation
ceremonies, then held at the Jesuits' Church in Valletta
- a post still held by the firm today.
When
Princess Elizabeth visited Malta in 1952, Benito Tufigno
was there to immortalize her stay on film. In 1992,
when she returned as Queen, a Tufigno again covered
the visit. This time it was Benito's son, Austin, who
had joined the business in 1987. Austin gained valuable
experience covering several important events, such as
the Bush-Gorbachev Malta Summit and the Pope's visits
to Malta. His dedication and enthusiasm kept the firm
fresh and dynamic and at the same time he helped to
bring the firm up to date with modern technologies.
In fact, these days all the firm's records are computerised
and there has been considerable investment in digital
photography and imaging equipment.
As
a result, the Tufigno business now covers four separate
sectors: the press, weddings, archives, and other events
such as graduations, Holy Communions, parties and
so
on. The firm regularly serves foreign customers, mostly
from the United Kingdom. This aspect of the work
ranges
from weddings to conferences and anything in between.
Today,
the family maxim which has seen the firm through more
than half a century is still as strong as ever. Quality
will always be paramount at Tufigno Photo & Video
Services.
